Wastewater treatment stations for meat processing plants

Purpose and principle of operation

The complex processing of meat, be it cattle, pigs, or poultry, consists of a chain of individual divisions for the processing of carcasses, each with a specific composition of wastewater and technologically different methods of their treatment, respectively.

Overview of the technology of treating wastewater at meat-processing production facilities with REEF company stations

All large inclusions of polluted wastewater are caught by the TehGrid mechanical screw screen mounted in a sump (well). Provision is made for the presence of baskets for accumulation of especially large debris where pipeline approaches the screen.

Then there is the TehFat primary clarifier, which clarifies wastewater mass from unemulsified greases and oils. Rising greases are removed by a special scraper mechanism, directed to a dumpster and removed for disposal. While the sediment is directed to the sludge collector tank.

After the primary clarifier wastewaters flow into the TehTank equalization tank, which by means of installed mixers mixes them to reduce rotting smell and settling of sludge.

The TehFlo foam and floatation separation unit clarifies all wastewater from hydrophobic and light suspended solids. A hi-tech design of the unit equipped with a pocket of treated water has the recirculation scheme of treatment, which makes it possible to considerably increase the degree of treatment of wastewater.

No less important is to use reagents at both stages of physical and chemical treatment.

The wastewater mass that has passed two-stage floatation treatment is channelled for dumping through the station’s pumping unit mounted in a pocket of treated wastewater of the second stage flotation unit. This pump is also employed for a reliable operation of the flotation unit in recycling mode.
